Why is enrichment important for rabbits?

Rabbits are inquisitive and intelligent animals with a great need for socialisation. Due to this, they can become easily bored when not provided enough stimulation. Pet rabbits are often kept in confinement for extended periods of time which can negatively affect their well-being.
